(jì) 既...(yòu) 又... and de(得)

I. Put the following into Chinese

a) Singapore is both beautiful city and beautiful country

新加坡既是美丽的城市又是美丽的国家.

Xīnjiāpō jì shì měi lì de chéng shì yòu shì měI lì de guó jiā .

b) She likes both Chinese movies and Hollywood (Hao3lai2wu1) movies.

她既喜欢中国的电影又喜欢好莱坞的电影

Tā jì xǐhuān zhōng guó de diànyǐng yòu xǐhuān hǎoláiwū de diànyǐng.

c) The chicken rice at this hawker center is neither yammy nor cheap.

. 这食物 中心 鸡饭既不好吃又不便宜.

Zhè shí wù zhōng xīn de jīfàn jì bù hǎo chī yòu bù piányí

d) How well does your younger brother learn mandarin? (de)

你的弟弟学中文学得怎么样?

Nǐ de dìdì xué zhōngwén xué de zěnmeyàng?

e) Did she buy a lot? (de)

她买得多吗?

Tā mǎi de duō ma?.

f) The books have been sold at too high a price.

这本书卖得很贵.

Zhè běn shū mài de hěn guì..

II. Oral Practice

a) Make 3 sentences with “jì ()... yòu()

(1) She is both pretty and smart.

她既漂亮又聪明.
tā jì piàoliàng yòu cōngming.

(2) I am having both headache and flu today.

今天我既有头痛又有感冒.

Jīntiàn wǒ jì yǒu tóutòng jì yǒu gǎnmào

(3) I am both hungry and thirsty.

我既饿又渴.

wǒ jì è yòu kě.

b) Make 3 sentences with “de

(1) She can run very fast.

她可以走得很快.

Tā kěyǐ zòu de hěn kuài.

(2) He can swim very fast.

他可以游泳游得很快.

Tā kěyǐ yóuyǒng yóu de hěn kuài.

(3) This black pepper crab cooked by the hotel’s chef is very tasty.

那饭店的厨这黑胡椒螃蟹师炒得好吃.

nā fàndiàn de chú shī zhè hújiào pángxiē chǎo de hǎo chī.
